Cheese straws

Recipe from the kitchen of Dor­ris Mounce grand­mother of Dor­ris An­nette Beard

2 c. flour

1 1/2 stick mar­garine or but­ter

1 lb. cheese (a good sharp, Wis­con­sin cheese)

1/2 tsp. red pep­per

1/2 tsp. salt

Grate cheese. Al­low cheese and but­ter to reach room tem­per­a­ture. Mix cheese and but­ter thor­oughly (east and best way is with an elec­tric mixer).

Mix in dry in­gre­di­ents slowly. Press into sticks with cookie press or chill, roll and cut into sticks. Sprinkle on cheese sticks lightly be­fore bak­ing. Bake for 20 min­utes at 300 de­grees. Note: These were a sta­ple at Christ­mas open house par­ties and are de­li­cious!
