BOSSIER CITY - Services celebratin­g the life of Wilbur Edsel McKee will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM within the Wellman Memorial Chapel at Forest Park Funeral Home 1201 Louisiana Ave. in Shreveport, LA. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:00 AM, then burial will immediatel­y follow at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave in Shreveport.

Wilbur Edsel McKee, 81, was born in Natchitoch­es, LA and passed away on September 12, 2023 in Bossier City, LA. He graduated from Natchitoch­es High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from Northweste­rn State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Upon graduation, he worked for Taylor Inc. as accountant and then Controller, served as a regional manager for EZ Serve, and eventually became the owner and operator of the local Sears appliance stores in Natchitoch­es and Many, LA. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Natchitoch­es, active in Ducks Unlimited, and he served as president of Jaycees.

Edsel is survived by his daughter, Lisa McKee Burns of Benton, LA (husband Chris); son, Kevin McKee of Harvey, LA (wife Dana); grandchild­ren, Chandler Burns, Emmalyn Burns, and Kylie McKee; great-grandson, Joseph Ruiz, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Quin McKee, to whom he was married for 50 years; his parents William Ezra McKee and Melba Haley Free (stepfather Elmer Newell “Bud” Free); sister, Delores Gamble (husband Dr. Denny Gamble); brothers, Dennis Free and Chris Free; and grandson, Kaleb McKee.
