SHREVEPORT, LA Robert Lee “Bobby” Stringer, of Shreveport, passed away in his home Friday, September 8, 2023, at the age of 93. Born July 23, 1930, in Texarkana, Texas, he was a proud member of Arkansas High Class of 1948, where he lettered in basketball and worked on the school newspaper. He served in the Army at Fort San Luis Obispo, California, during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He and his wife Jane moved to Shreveport in 1953, where Bobby worked at United Gas and later as an award-winning pharmaceut­ical salesman for 25 years. After retirement, he enjoyed volunteeri­ng with the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission and was once featured on KTBS’s Hometown Hero. He was a long-time member of Summer Grove Baptist Church, where he was active in the Four Seasons men’s Sunday School class.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 52 years, Jane Biagioli Stringer. He is survived by son, Robert Stringer and wife, Marsha West, of Grapevine, TX; daughter, Janet Watson and husband, West, of Coppell, TX; son, Randy Stringer and wife, Deanna, of McKinney, TX; and daughter, Julie Stackhaus, of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by 12 grandchild­ren and 11 great-grandchild­ren.

A funeral service honoring the life of Bobby will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, at Osborn Funeral Home, 3631 Southern Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiatin­g the service will be Dr. Murry Hodge. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will immediatel­y follow the service in Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Avenue.

Honoring Bobby as pallbearer­s will be his grandsons. Serving as honorary pallbearer­s will be his fellow Sunday School members.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, 901 McNeil St, Shreveport, LA 71101, as was Bobby’s desire.
