Airline coach Digilormo steps down
The only volleyball coach in Airline history is taking down her net.
Reggie Digilormo, who built the Lady Vikings into a perennial district contender, announced Tuesday to athletic director Toby Todd that she was not going to continue after compiling a 182-139 record since starting the program in 2014.
“We would like to thank ‘Coach Reggie’ for all her hard work and dedication to building and promoting the sport of volleyball, not only at Airline, but in Northwest Louisiana,” Todd said in a release. “Her loyalty to Airline and to her girls will be greatly missed. We wish her nothing but the best in all future endeavors.”
Digilormo, a former Captain Shreve and Centenary softball player, said the future of Airline volleyball is as bright as ever.
“I hope our girls will continue to embrace challenges and strive for excellence, keeping their sights set on state championships,” Digilormo said. “I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to know and coach each of your daughters over the years.
The Lady Vikings went 5-16 in her first season in a district with Barbe and Acadiana. The team improved to 12-17 the following season, then went 17-6 and were district champions in 201617.
A three-time district coach of the year, Digilormo had six teams advance to the postseason. She coached the first volleyball team in North Louisiana to host and win an LHSAA playoff game and helped start the Bossier Parish Volleyball Jamboree.
Digilormo was also Airline’s softball coach from 2015-19, compiling a 278170 record while earning three district coach of the year honors.
Airline will begin the search for a new coach after Thanksgiving. All interested parties can send letters of interest and resumes to Todd at toby.todd@bossierschools.org.
