Kyle DeVerna and Bran­don Fein­berg each scored 14 points to lead the Univer­sity of Scran­ton to a 70-61 win over Mont­clair State in a men’s bas­ket­ball game Mon­day in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Mitch Cross, Abing­ton Heights grad­u­ate Ethan Danzig, Fein­berg and Matthew Man­cuso hit con­sec­u­tive 3-point­ers dur­ing a spurt in the first half as the Roy­als (8-2) built a 39-28 half­time lead.

John Vitkus had 11 points and six re­bounds for Scran­ton.

Muh­len­berg 70, Mary­wood 59

At Scran­ton, Muh­len­berg Col­lege shot 51 per­cent from the field in the sec­ond half to rally for a win.

Mary­wood led by five at half­time but the Mules opened the sec­ond half on a 12-2 run and held the Pac­ers to 32 per­cent shoot­ing af­ter half­time.

Dex­ter Shy scored 18 points for the Pac­ers (0-9) and Tip Swartz had 14. Hones­dale grad­u­ate Kevin Miller scored five points for Muh­len­berg.

Women’s bas­ket­ball

Abing­ton Heights grad­u­ate Catie Nealon scored 14 points to lead Mary­wood Univer­sity to a 54-46 win over Le­banon Val­ley Col­lege.

The Pac­ers (5-5) opened the game on an 11-0 run and held Le­banon Val­ley score­less for the first four min­utes.

Erika Thomas added 12 points for Mary­wood and Hones­dale grad­u­ate Natasha Hessling had 11 points, eight re­bounds and four steals.
