Ann S. Moyles

Ann S. Moyles, 70, of Olyphant and for­merly of Dun­more, died Mon­day morn­ing at Re­gional Hos­pi­tal of Scran­ton. Her hus­band, John P., died Feb. 21, 2008. The cou­ple had been mar­ried for 38 years.

Born in Scran­ton, she was the daugh­ter of the late An­thony and Genevieve Ed­wards Scaringi and was a grad­u­ate of Dun­more High School. She grad­u­ated from Mary­wood Col­lege with a bach­e­lor’s de­gree in ed­u­ca­tion and re­ceived her mas­ter’s and prin­ci­pal’s cer­tifi­cate from the Univer­sity of Scran­ton. She taught at West Scran­ton High School and Dun­more High School and re­tired af­ter 34 years from Scran­ton Prepara­tory School, where she taught English, speech, cre­ative writ­ing and was the drama direc­tor. She had a pas­sion for teach­ing and her stu­dents. She was an avid reader and en­joyed movies and his­tory. She loved the beach and trav­el­ing and espe­cially loved spend­ing time with her chil­dren and grand­chil­dren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Sur­viv­ing are a daugh­ter, Dolores Moyles, Throop; a son, John A. and his wife, Helene B., and grand­chil­dren, Genevieve A., Emily M. and An­thony John Moyles, all of Dick­son City; a sis­ter, Palama E. Scaringi, Florida; a brother, Ni­cholas Scaringi, Tay­lor; sev­eral nieces, neph­ews and cousins.

She was also pre­ceded in death by a brother-in-law, Daniel J. Moyles.

The funeral will be Fri­day from the Car­lucci-Golden-DeSan­tis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dun­more, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Eu­lalia’s Church, Roar­ing Brook Twp. En­tomb­ment, Cathe­dral Ceme­tery.
