Brett M. Strunk, 25, formerly of Pittston Twp., died Saturday at his home in Plains Twp.

Born in Glendale (Pittston Twp.) on Oct. 14, 1991, son of Robert McDermott and Sharon Strunk, Brett was a 2010 graduate of Pittston Area High School, was captain of the football team and also attended Penn State University. He worked various jobs throughout his life and was most recently employed by Jerry’s Sports Center, Pittston Twp.

He loved sports and was a fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Philadelph­ia Phillies. He enjoyed reading, spending time with close friends and family, and adored his girlfriend, Bridget. Brett had an infectious laugh and a smile that lit up the world. Gone far too soon, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Brett is survived by his mother, Sharon Strunk and her husband, Ken Taddonio, of Moosic; brothers, Damon Strunk and Chase Taddonio, both of Moosic; maternal grandfathe­r, Louis Strunk; paternal grandparen­ts, Robert and Catherine McDermott; his girlfriend of many years, Bridget Robbins; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmothe­r, Helen Strunk; and greatgrand­mother, Beatrice Yeager.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc. 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with the Rev. Rodger Griffiths of Moosic Presbyteri­an Church officiatin­g. Interment will take place at the convenienc­e of the family.
