June Rose Wazney, the widow of Lt. Col. Ed­ward Louis Wazney Sr., , died Fri­day in Sumter, S.C.

Born in Scran­ton on Oct. 3, 1942, she was the daugh­ter of the late Charles and Genevieve Sim­rell.

Sur­viv­ing are three sons, Ed­ward W. Wazney, of North Carolina; Louis Fran­cis Wazney, of South Carolina; and Robert Wil­liam Wazney, of South Carolina; one sis­ter, Linda J. Clyde, of Florida; two grand­chil­dren, Erika Dawn Wazney and Jonathon Louis Ed­ward Wazney, of South Carolina. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was also pre­ceded in death by her four brothers, Ed­win, Don­ald, Wil­liam and Robert Sim­rell.

The fam­ily would like to thank the ICU staff at Pal­metto Health Tuomey and the staff at McElveen Manor for the love and sup­port that was shown to her over the last few years.

A bless­ing ser­vice will be held Wed­nes­day at 11 a.m. from the Sznyter Funeral Home, 1101 Prospect Ave., Scran­ton. Fam­ily and friends may call from 10 to 11. En­tomb­ment will fol­low in St. Stanis­laus Pol­ish Na­tional Catholic Ceme­tery.
