New deli has Scranton flavor
A new deli will open in downtown Wilkes-Barre with a Scranton flair.
Keith Bartle, 41, who has owned South Street Subs and Deli at 80 W. South St. in Nanticoke for the last six years, will open his second location in January at 70 S. Main St. in Wilkes-Barre called South Street Subs. His hoagies are modeled after Catalano’s Deli in West Scranton with capicola, ham, salami, provolone cheese, hot or mild peppers and olive oil.
He is leasing the space from developer Joe Amato, who bought the complex in downtown Wilkes-Barre in 2013 for $5 million.
