Prison for 3rd man in home invasion

A Meshoppen man who pleaded guilty to a Union Twp. home invasion and armed robbery was sentenced Tuesday to serve up to 20 years in state prison.

Jeremy Hunsinger, 34, was sentenced to eight to 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty in October to counts of robbery, burglary, and criminal conspiracy.

Mr. Hunsinger was accused of conspiring with George Mikelaitis, 36, Falls, and Bradley Aaron Avery, 27, Wilkes-Barre, to break into a home on Sorber Road in Union Twp. in February, stealing property while holding residents William and Donna Lear — who were 73 and 61 at the time, respective­ly — at gunpoint.

Mr. Mikelaitis pleaded guilty in the case in October and was sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison.
