See what’s ‘Sweet’

-

Speaking of “The Nutcracker,” an exhibit at the Dietrich Theater, 60 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, takes inspiration from the beloved ballet. Stephen Hendrickson, who created annual Christmas displays for the Dietrich for about a decade, brought his work back to the theater this season after a two-year break. A production designer who worked on such shows as “The Good Wife,” Mr. Hendrickson splits his time between New York City and Tunkhannock. This year’s display, “Nutcracker Sweet,” interprets moments from the ballet’s first act. Visitors can watch Clara dance with her nutcracker soldier while presents await opening under the Christmas tree and snowflakes hang overhead, and they also can press two buttons to play music and make the display move. The display remains up through December and can be viewed along with the Dietrich’s other seasonal exhibits whenever the theater plays movies or by appointment.
