Man charged with sex abuse of housekeeper
A Scranton man faces charges he sexually abused a female housekeeper he was training at a hotel in the city’s downtown, police said.
Almond Santos, 27, 1316 Prospect Ave., is accused of trying to force a new housekeeper at the Radisson at Lackawanna Station hotel to perform oral sex, according to a criminal complaint.
The Times-tribune does not identify victims of sexual assault.
The victim had been paired with Santos so he could familiarize her with the hotel’s cleaning procedures.
On the first day they worked together, he grabbed her buttocks and brushed up against her, but she tried to ignore it. When he asked what she was doing, she came up with excuses to not spend time with him.
Eventually, Santos stopped and she figured he took the hint she was not interested in him.
On Thursday, things escalated, police said.
They spent part of the morning cleaning a room together and Santos started to brush up against her again. Santos exposed himself to her while she was scrubbing the toilet and pulled her head toward his penis. She resisted and tried to leave, but he stopped her and started to pull at her clothing, exposing her.
The victim left the hotel and contacted her family. Police arrived at the hotel and arrested him.
Santos is charged with attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and indecent exposure.
Santos is in the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17.
