Southern Columbia stomps Wilmington
Southern Columbia scored the final 42 points of the game and rolled past Wilmington, 49-14, to win its PIAA record ninth football championship, claiming the Class 2A title Friday afternoon at Hersheypark Stadium.
Gaige Garcia scored five touchdowns and accounted for 203 yards of offense, and Gavin Garcia scored the other two TDS for the Tigers.
At Hershey, Daequan Hardy turned in a fourtouchdown effort as Penn Hills edged Manheim Central, 36-31, in a game stopped when a Manheim Central player was taken off the field on a stretcher after a collision on an onside kick in the waning seconds.
Hardy scored on TD catches of 74 and 27 yards, an 84-yard kickoff return and a 100-yard interception return, one of four picks by the winners.
