Irish women whip ’Noles


SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Arike Ogun­bowale scored 27 points and Jes­sica Shep­ard added 26 as No.4-ranked Notre Dame got its tran­si­tion game go­ing again to beat No. 24 Florida State, 97-70, on Sun­day.

Ogun­bowale, who had just 13 points on 4-of-15 shoot­ing in Thurs­day’s loss at No. 25 Mi­ami, moved closer to be­com­ing the school’s lead­ing scorer. She has 2,301 points. Sky­lar Dig­gers-smith is the all-time leader at 2,357.

At Blacks­burg, Va., Asia Durr scored 34 points and Louisville over­came a nearcol­lapse.

Sam Fuehring added 21 points and 13 re­bounds for the Car­di­nals, who saw the the Hok­ies get within 62-56 with un­der four min­utes left.

At Stan­ford, Calif., Sab­rina Ionescu had 27 points, nine re­bounds and eight as­sists, and Ore­gon ran its Ncaa-best win­ning streak to 16 games by run­ning away from Stan­ford to snap a 29-game los­ing streak at Maples Pav­il­ion.

At Starkville, Miss., Teaira Mccowan had 24 points and 15 re­bounds, Jor­dan Dan­berry added 20 points Mis­sis­sippi State pulled away late to beat Ten­nessee.

(7) Ore­gon St. 82, Cal­i­for­nia 74 At Berke­ley, Calif., Des­tiny Slocum scored 26 points and Ore­gon State over­came an 11-point deficit.

(8) Mar­quette 93, Vil­lanova 55

At Mil­wau­kee, Natisha Hiede­man scored 22 points, Al­lazia Block­ton had 19 and Mar­quette beat Vil­lanova for its 12th con­sec­u­tive vic­tory.

(10) Mary­land 62 (20) Rut­gers 48

At Pis­cat­away, N.J., Kaila Charles scored 17 points and Mary­land ex­tended its lead in the Big Ten by beat­ing Rut­gers.

(15) Syra­cuse 96 Bos­ton Col­lege 69

At Syra­cuse, N.Y., Mi­randa Drum­mond made 6 of 9 3-point­ers and scored 24 points, and Syra­cuse beat Bos­ton Col­lege.

(16) Iowa 78, Ohio State 52 At Colum­bus, Ohio, Me­gan Gustafson had 19 of her 29 points in the sec­ond half as Iowa pulled away to beat Ohio State.

North­east­ern 77, Tow­son 68 At Bos­ton, Scran­ton Prep alum Jess Genco recorded the fifth dou­ble-dou­ble of her ca­reer, scor­ing 16 points to go with 11 as­sists, to help North­east­ern post a Colo­nial Ath­letic As­so­ci­a­tion win over Tow­son.

Genco also hit two 3 -point­ers while mov­ing to 499 ca­reer as­sists, in­clud­ing dou­ble dig­its in as­sists in two of the past four games.


At Hous­ton, Dejon Jar­reau scored 14 of his 16 points in the sec­ond half, Corey Davis Jr. also had 16 and No. 12 Hous­ton held off No. 25 Cincin­nati, 65-58.

Jar­reau added eight re­bounds and five as­sists.

(20) Iowa 80, North­west­ern 79

At Iowa City, Iowa, Jor­dan Bo­han­non hit a 3-pointer from 23 feet with three-tenths of a sec­ond re­main­ing and Iowa ral­lied from a 13-point deficit to beat North­west­ern.

Bo­han­non fin­ished with 15 points with 3-for-4 shoot­ing from 3-point range, in­clud­ing the win­ner for Iowa.
