TOPEKA - Judith Ann Rickerson, 76, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024.

She was born July 12, 1946, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Francis and Dorothy (Bradfield) Specht. She graduated from Luckey High School in Manhattan, KS in 1964 and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Ottawa University.

Judy was employed by the State of Kansas for 19 years in a range of positions, with the majority of her work in human resources. She also served as the employment manager of St. Francis Hospital and the EEO director for Shawnee County, and owned the First Bite Sandwich Shop.

Judy was a member of the Countrysid­e United Methodist Church, of Topeka.

Judy married Jack Eldred Rickerson on September 19, 1980 in Topeka, KS. He survives, along with her children Jeri Cole (Brian) of Topeka, Aaron Braswell of Topeka, Sarah Olson (Jorey) of Duluth, MN, Seth Rickerson (Anna) of Minneapoli­s, MN, Paige Rickerson of Topeka and Tori Rickerson of Topeka; grandchild­ren Justina Dawson, Bailey Cole (Nic Simons), Pavin Cole, Clara Degerstrom, Julianna Degerstrom and Lauren Rickerson; great-grandchild­ren Avah Dawson, Mylei Dawson, Charlotte Simons and Eleanor “Ellie” Simons, all of Topeka; her sisters Jeanni McAbee (Bob) of Ann Arbor, MI and Susan Hosford (the late Snaz Risenhoove­r) of Sayer, OK; and her sister-in-law Cindy Specht (the late Ted Specht) of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Ted Specht. Judy enjoyed everything.

Judy was cremated. A celebratio­n of life will be held at a future date. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to Doorstep Inc., 1119 SW 10th, Topeka, KS 66604.
