Rutgers blown out by WVU

PISCATAWAY — The Rutgers men’s basketball team’s upset over Florida is ancient history now.

The Scarlet Knights dropped their second straight Big East game, 85-64, to West Virginia Wednesday night in a game that wasn’t at all competitiv­e.

Darryl Bryant scored 29 points as the Mountainee­rs built a 25point halftime lead.

Eli Carter led Rutgers (8-7, 0-2) with 19 points.

WOMEN Rider 60, Niagara 53 LAWRENCEVI­LLE — Myneshia Mckenzie and Carleigh Brown scored 11 points each as the Broncs stormed past Niagara in the final four minutes for their first MAAC win.

Mckenzie converted a layup with 3:14 left that broke a 50-50 tie. After the Purple Eagles committed turnover on their next possession, Ali Heller scored to put Rider up four.

The Broncs (9-4, 1-1) never looked back closing the game on a 10-3 run.

Caitlin Bopp added 10 points.

Rider returns to action Saturday afternoon when it hosts conference-favorite Marist.

TCNJ 56, Richard Stockton 44 GALLOWAY — The Lions won their fourth straight behind Hannah Tait’s game-high 13 points.

TCNJ limited Richard Stockton to 24.6 percent shooting for the game, including 5 for 32 in the second half.

Kelly Coughlin added 12 points for the Lions.

Brittany Muniz led the Ospreys with 11 points.

Coach Dawn Henderson is now two wins away from 400 in her career.

The Lions improved to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC.
