COLUMBUS — The Northern Burlington and Bordentown wrestling teams opened their dual meet schedules by jumping straight into the frying pan last night, as the two teams renewed their heated rivalry.

In the end it was Bordentown that proved itself most ready for the test, defeating the host Greyhounds 38-30.

Bordentown coach Joe Sprague made several lineup moves during the match and they all paid off, moving wrestlers up at 132, 138 and 170 and coming away with wins in all three.

The Scotties opened the match with the wins at 132 and 138 as Justin Mctimney opened with a second period pin at 132 and Chris Nitschmann bumped up to get a major decision at 138.

Bordentown made it three in a row with Drew Pedersen’s 4-3 win at 145 and just missed a fourth straight win at 152.

In that bout, Kevin Lindner jumped out to an 8-5 lead in the third period but Northern’s Matt Nixon took advantage of a penalty point, a two point stalling penalty and a reversal to come from behind and win 10-8.

Bordentown forfeited at 160 and moved Omer Kaya up to 170, where he scored a 13-5 major decision over Kevin Rafferty. That gave Bordentown a 17-9 lead.

It was here that Northern launched its comeback, as John Konopka picked up a pin at 182 and Billy Stout used a pair of takedowns to beat Bor- dentown’s Julius Neal 5-2 at 195. That gave Northern its first lead of the night, 18-17.

The two teams swapped six pointers in the next two weights as the Scotties’ Grant Corretjer pinned Zac Pate at 220 and Northern’s Cody Melton won by forfeit at heavyweight.

A forfeit to Bordentown’s Ted Rigas at 106 wiped out the one point Northern lead, however. Two more wins, Justin Kerr’s come from behind 5-4 victory at 113 and Robert Dipierro’s pin at 120; clinched the match for Bordentown.
