EWING — George L. Wright, 94, of Ewing Township, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012. He was born on April 1, 1918 in Trenton, to George and Bessie Wright. After raising his family in Yardley, Pa. he moved to Ewing, where he had resided for the past 30 years. George was a 1936 graduate of Trenton High School and a 1940 graduate of Temple University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. At graduation he joined Public Service Electric and Gas and worked there for the next 42 years, interrupte­d only by three years of service in the U.S. Army during World War II. His service during World War II was in the European Theater Of Operations as part of the Chemical Warfare Division. He retired from PSE&G in 1982 after holding various management positions in the customer services organizati­on. He was a member of the Trenton Torch Club and a 50 year member of Mercer No. 50 F&AM Masonic Lodge, Trenton.

He was a dedicated family man and savored every minute he spent with his loved ones. He enjoyed following the stock market and researchin­g stocks. He loved to travel, especially by car, and drove to Florida each year to escape the New Jersey winters.

He was predecease­d by his first wife, Anna Hough Wright, in 1980 after 40 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Martha Cox Wright; his daughter, Merle Gilliam of State College, Pa.; his son and daughter-in-law, George and Ann Wright of Holmdel; two grandsons, Alex Wright and Jared Wright; and a granddaugh­ter, Chelsea Gilliam.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, September 27, at the Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, 2560 Pennington Road (Pennington Circle), Pennington, with the Rev. Will Shurley, pastor of the Titusville Presbyteri­an Church, officiatin­g.

Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Ewing Church Cemetery, 100 Scotch Road, Ewing.
