Moore’s two goals lead Allentown over Hightstown

- Staff Report

HIGHTSTOWN — One of the best coaching jobs in Colonial Valley Conference girls soccer this season is being turned in by one of the league’s newest coaches.

Allentown’s Colleen Weber, one of the three first year coaches in the CVC, saw her Redbirds improve to 5-1-0 Monday as they shocked a 5-2-0 Hightstown team that was leading the CVC Valley Divsion by a 2-1 score. It was only the second CVC loss for Don Hess’ Rams.

Alex Moore scored both Allentown goals, one in each half, assisted by Carly DuBoskey on the game winner. Amanda Hornyak recorded 11 saves, but lost her shutout bid when Dakota Mills scored unassisted for the Rams.

Hamilton 1, Nottingham 0 HAMILTON — The lack of offense against a good defense continued for the Norhstars, who failed to win for the fifth game in a row (0-4-1) as Sam Barlow’s first-half goal led Hamilton to a win.

The Hornets got to .500 at 3-3-0 as Erin Septer stopped six shots to hold the ’Stars scoreless for the third time in four games. Chelsea Toscano stopped six Hamilton shots.
