Hamilton event set to boost mentoring in Mercer County

TRENTON — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer County’s annual food- and wine-tasting fundraiser has been set for Thursday, Oct. 18.

Proceeds from the event, called Autumn Culinaire 2012, will benefit the agency’s youth mentoring programs.

Big Brothers Big Sisters focuses on educationa­l achievemen­t, avoidance of risky behaviors such as juvenile delinquenc­y, higher self-esteem, confidence and the ability to relate to others. Funds raised at Autumn Culinaire allow Big Brothers Big Sisters to carefully make more mentoring matches and provide ongoing assistance for mentors, mentees and families to help sustain long successful relationsh­ips unique to its programs, according to a news release.

Autumn Culinaire 2012 will take place on Oct. 18, from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m., at The Stone Terrace by John Henry’s on Kuser Road in Hamilton. It will feature more than 20 of the area’s finest restaurant­s and 150 select wines and internatio­nal beers for tastings.

The evening will include the presentati­on of the Greg Olsen Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year awards to 2012 honorees Mark Cannon and Matthew and Maria Connolly.

Event tickets are $85 per person. Patron tickets are $125 and include recognitio­n in the event program.
