Gwendolyn Carter
TRENTON — Gwendolyn Carter, 74 of Trenton died Monday, September 24, 2012 at Capital Health, Hopewell Campus. Born and educated in Birmingham, AL, Mrs. Carter was a resident of Trenton for most of her life.
She was employed as a Nurses’ Aide at the Henry J. Austin Health Center and was also a private duty nurse. She opened her home to assist with the Developmentally Disabled young adults. She was a foster mother for over 20 years serving as President of the Foster Parent Association from 1983 to 1986.
She was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church before joining Macedonia Baptist Church where she sang with the choir. Predeceased by her parents, Henry and Minnie Miller, a son, Ricky Carter, a sister, Lil Cotton and a brother, Milton Miller surviving are her husband; Bishop Carter, Jr.; three sons; James E., Barron (Cynthia) and Bernard Carter; two daughters; Monica R. and Mary Carter; eight grandchildren; Stephanie; Tony; Latonya; Brandon; Takahi; Diar; Tanelle and Tyson; six great-grandchildren; five sisters; Maple Miller; Edna Collier; Essie Houghe; Virginia Hunter and Idell Short; six brothers; Ernest; Calvin; Freddie; Robert; James and Lemroy Miller and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and her Macedonia Baptist Church family.
Funeral Services will be Saturday (Sept. 29) at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church 1300 Greenwood Ave Trenton, NJ 08609.
Interment will be in Colonial Memorial Park, Hamilton, NJ. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton.
