MERCERVILL­E — Fulvio Santaguida, 78, of Mercervill­e, NJ passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 2, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.

Fulvio was born in Satriano, Italy and migrated to New Jersey in 1955. A loving husband, brother, father, grandfathe­r and friend to many. Upon retiring as a self-employed Volkswagen mechanic, he loved to tinker in his garage with solar energy projects. His mind was always at work. His passions were cooking, gardening, playing the mandolin, spending time with his large family and eating figs. Anytime he ate a fig from his own fig trees, he was in heaven! He will be dearly missed until the end of time.

Predecease­d by his parents Vincenzo and Carmela Chiaravall­oti Santaguida, two brothers, Dante and Giuseppe Santaguida, he is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nazarena Fortuna Santaguida, six daughters and spouses, Carmela and David Pagano of Mercervill­e, Nancy Culbertson of Monmouth Jct., Cathy Schiavo of Princeton Jct., Maria Abbamont of Doylestown PA, Susie and Michael Gummel and Connie and Tony Vigliano all of Ewing Twp., a brother and sister-in-law Teodoro and Michele Santaguida of Brick NJ, three sisters and a brother-in-law, Maria Battaglia of Italy, Concetta and Domenic Arena of Lakeland FL, and Rose Maugeri of Argentina, six grandchild­ren, Samantha Culbertson, Nicole Abbamont, Angelina and Jacquelyn Gummel, Rena Schiavo, and Anthony Vigliano, many special nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Gregory the Great Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Hamilton Twp. Calling hours are Sunday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Hartmann Memorial Home 2830 Nottingham Way.
