PDS girls slip past Abington Friends

PRINCETON — Allison Klei connected on a firsthalf goal via an Alexis Davis assist to assure Princeton Day School girls soccer team would remain unbeaten as it defeated Abington (Pa.) Friends School, 1-0.

Rory Finnegan made two saves and recorded the shutout for the Panthers, who improved to 8-0-1 with their seventh shutout of the season and fifth in a row. Hopewell 4, Hightstown 1

HIGHTSTOWN — Rowana Parker, Carly Cavalier, Christie Clune-Persichett­i and Julia Kolano provided the offense as the Bulldogs scored twice in each half to stay in first place in the CVC Patriot race. Shelby Butler stopped 11 shots to get the win in goal, but lost her shutout when Marisol Rozo scored off a pass from Jessica Marcus in the first half. Phillips, Julia Panko, Nicole Bruning, Shanae Nance, Sara Nerwinski and Morgan Mount all scored in the shutout.

Allentown 5, West Windsor South 1 PRINCETON JCT. — Julianna Valesi notched a hat trick while Veronica Gotilla and Alyssa Sloan chipped in a goal apiece for the 6-2-0 Redbirds. The Pirates’ Melinda Altamore had the lone for her squad.

LAWRENCEVI­LLE — Jessica Castelo, Chloe Jones and Jane Kirby led Big Red’s scoring attack. The shutout was split by Galen Oggand Sofia Pullen stopped six and three shots respective­ly. Ewing 7, Nottingham 0 EWING — Jodie Crutchley led four Blue Devils’ scorers with a hat trick. Natalie Jesseman scored twice while Beth Cunniff and Jade Hall had a goal each for the victors. Hopewell 6, Hamilton 0 HOPEWELL TWP. — Erin Amantia and Erin Garritty caged two goals apiece to lead the Bulldogs, who improved to 8-1.

Pennington 6, Solebury (Pa.) 0 PENNINGTON — Abigail Pitarresi scored twice while Annie Horsley, Kelsey Sharer, Bridget Piersol and Clare Long added a goal each for the Red Raiders. Casey McGovern and Jillian LaPointe combinedfo­r the shutout. WEDNESDAY Bordentown 2, Holy Cross 1 (OT) BORDENTOWN — Jess Carey converted a pass from Cait Nitschmann in overtime, sending the Scotties (9-1) past the Crusdaers (8-1). Goalie Suzy Mansour stopped nine shots for Bordentown.
