TRENTON — Joseph J. Nardone Sr., 89, passed away peacefully on Friday March 21, 2014 at the Cranbury Center in Monroe Township. Born in Trenton, he was a Bordentown resident for most of his life. Joseph enlisted in The United States Navy during World War II. He was honorably discharged with the rank of petty officer second class. For the next 50 plus years, Joe worked in constructi­on and engineerin­g. He was the Senior Public Roads Inspector for Burlington County for a number of years. In 1981 Joe fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own bar when he purchased “Faley’s” located in North Trenton on Mulberry Street. A proud parishione­r of St. Mary’s church, he enjoyed gardening and barbecue. But the greatest joy in his life was his grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren whom he loved so much.

The son of the late Salvatore and Maria (DiFillipo) Nardone, he was predecease­d by his brothers, John and Anthony Nardone, his sisters, Louise, Josephine and Frances Nardone, Catherine Mercantini, he is survived by his daughter, Terri Nardone of Yardville, his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph J. Jr. and Kathy Nardone of Bordentown, his grandchild­ren, Shannon Allen, Shawn and (Sean) Ross, Jonathan and (Jenna) Grubb, Katie and (Glenn) Cruser, Matt Nardone, six great-grandchild­ren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 45 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Bordentown Home for Funerals, 40 Crosswicks St., Bordentown. Interment will be private.
