Arnold L. “Taz” Thomas Sr., age 74, passed away September 28, 2015 at Capital Health System-Hopewell. Born in Trenton, Arnold was a lifelong resident. He was educated in the Trenton public school system and was a graduate of Trenton Central High School.

Mr. Thomas was a retired senior correction officer at the New Jersey State Prison with 30 years of service. He was a member of P.B.A. local 105, and a member of the 1956 Babe Ruth Word Series Championsh­ip Team. He was also a trainer and mentor to many New Jersey State prison correction officers. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.

Son of the late Fannie and Lonnie Thomas and brother of the late Lucille Moreland, Evelyn Thomas, John L, Frederick D., James, and Jo Nathan Thomas.

Mr. Thomas leaves to mourn his passing his wife, friend, and companion of 47 years June B. Thomas, affectiona­tely known as “Jr.”; his loving children, Melissa Kay Thomas and Arnold Lee Thomas Jr.; stepson Jason Michael Caldwell; goddaughte­r Sandra Hereford-Crawley; special friends William Powell and Darren J. Bolden; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and his Department of Correction­s Family.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Way, Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. until time of service at the church. Entombment Ewing Church Cemetery.
