Rancocas Valley wins its season opener

PHILADELPH­IA>> The Rancocas Valley softball team got its season off to a very positive start by beating Philadelph­ia Catholic League powerhouse St. Hubert’s, 4-3, Wednesday in eight innings.

Angie Dunphy worked the first five innings before Shyla Pastore came on to get the win in relief. Ally Pellock, Jalian Young and Julie Contravo each had two hits for the Hollies. Young and Pastore also tripled. games to lead the Gade attack. Annmarie Cooker was also 2-for-3 with a homer. NESHAMINY 12, CHRISTOPHE­RDOCK0 LANHORNE, PA. >> The Redskins easily improved to 3-0 as coach Dave Chichilett­i picked up his 99th career win in just his sixth season. Mackensie Compton went 3-for-3 with a triple. Devan Masciulli was 2-for-3, double and knocked in three runs. Amber Brugger and Caelyn Seely combined to fan nine. FAIRLESS HILLS, PA. >> Meg Nally continued to rip the ball for the Owls with a home run and five RBI. She had three hits in all. Maddie Sauer got the win with a five-hitter. EWING2, PRINCETON1 EWINGTWP. >> The Little Tigers gave it a good shot behind the seven-hit pitching of Kayla Volante. Ewing scored in the fourth on an RBI double by Brianna Vaughn and fielder’s choice by freshman Devon Kueny. Sara Bearden pitched a four-hitter and struck out nine for the win. Kelly Sweedish singled in the Princeton run. HIGHTSTOWN­10, LAWRENCE 2 LAWRENCE TWP. >> Sam Dolan got the ball and came through with a five-hitter and 10 strikeouts. Holly Bridgman socked a triple and bases-loaded double. Kristin Oberg also doubled. MORRISVILL­E 30, GIRARDCOLL­EGE 8 MORRISVILL­E, PA. >> Hardhittin­g Morrisvill­e is now 3-0 after Denise Sacco went 5-for-5 with five RBIs and hit a grand slam. Pitcher Kayla Romanek struck out and aided her own cause with a 4-for-4 and home run. HAMILTON5 PRINCETON JCT. >> Leah Churinskas and Catie Reater each collected three hits to lead the South attack. Taylor Britt drove in three runs and came on in relied of Rachel Julius, who worked the first four innings and struck out four for the win. ALLENTOWN6, NOTTINGHAM­2 ALLENTOWN >> Talented freshman Alysssa Notorianni led the way with a grand slam and five RBIs. Kayla Peterson got the win, allowing just one earned run and striking out three. BRISTOL 11, NEWHOPE-SOLEBURY0 BRISTOL, PA >> The Warriors cruised to their third straight win when Cara Fabiano cranked up a fivehitter and fanned 10. Four different Warriors doubled and Maya Alicea tripled. WESTWINDSO­RNORTH18, TRENTON1 TRENTON >> Vanessa Richardson smacked five hits and McKenna Carpenter handled the pitching as North won its third game.
