Lindberg Kidnapping: Morven Museum & Garden presents: “Press, Justice, Celebrity: A Panel Discussion on the Lindbergh Kidnapping on Saturday, April 9at 2p.m. at the Hunterdon County Courthouse. Presented at the historic Hunterdon County Courthouse, this panel discussion will explore the themes of press, justice, and celebrity, with special attention to the interplay between Charles Lindbergh’s celebrity status, the appeal of press coverage of the trial, and the fragility of justice. Of the many important life events addressed in Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh: Couple of

an Age, the kidnapping of the Lindbergh’s son on March 1, 1932, and the subsequent trial of Bruno Richard Hauptmann in 1935, are among the most widely known. This panel discussion, in conjunctio­n with Morven’s current exhibition, “Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh: Couple of an Age,” aims to explore the themes of the press, justice, and celebrity in the very room where the Hauptmann trial took place. Speakers include Landon Jones, former editor of People Magazine; Patty Rhule, Director of Exhibit Design at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.; William O’Shaughness­y, trial lawyer; and Edward Tenner, historian. Terhune Orchards: Children never mind putting on their mittens for a trip to Terhune Orchards for Read & Explore, a winter educationa­l series. This popular reading program is held in the heated greenhouse where winter crops and flowers are being grown. “Birds, Nesting, Bird Houses” is planned for Saturday, April 9at 10a.m. and 1p.m. Birds are starting to think about making homes for their babies. We will read stories about birds. Each child makes a bird house and have nesting material to take home. Read & Explore programs are held on Tuesdays at 10a.m. and Saturdays at 10a.m. and 1 p.m. Each session lasts about an hour. The cost is $7per child and includes the craft activity. Kuser Farm Mansion: Kuser Mansion will be open for free tours through Saturday, October 29, 2016. Tours on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Closed Easter). Yardville CYO: Registrati­on has begun for the Yardville CYO Spring Pee Wee Tee Ball League set to begin April 16, 2016. This is co-ed instructio­nal league for children, ages 4and 5year olds. Trent House Spring Planting: Experience the Trent House’s restored colonial garden and learn about historic gardening practices. Spring Planting Day on Saturday, April 9, from 1to 3p.m., is a family event with activity stations for children, where they will create their own planting mix and plant heirloom seeds to take home. They will also make craft projects with seeds, take home a coloring book on growing plants from seeds and play colonial games. Local AmeriCorps NJ Watershed Ambassador will present a Rain Barrel Building Workshop from 1to 3p.m., on Saturday, April 16, at the Tulpehakin­g Nature Center. Indoor Flea Market: HopewellKe­roka Alliance (HKA) plans to host its seventh annual large indoor flea market inside the cafeteria of Hopewell Valley Central High School in Pennington, NJ, on Sunday, April 17, from noon to 3p.m. In its first eight years, the tax-exempt, non-profit, all-volunteer, charitable HKA organizati­on – which seeks to build a cultural and humanitari­an bridge between Hopewell Valley, NJ, and the Keroka area of western Kenya in eastern Africa – has raised almost $170,000to fund health, education and infrastruc­ture-improvemen­t projects in Kenya’s rolling, tea-growing Keroka area. Open House: Get to know the new Mount Rose Preserve on Carter Road at an open house on Sunday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 3p.m. The free event will introduce the community to this former corporate park, which was preserved a year ago and is being converted into a public park.
