Montgomery shuts out WW-P North in rain

PLAINSBORO >> Despite afternoon rain, the West Windsor-Plainsboro High North baseball team made a go of it against Montgom- ery Thursday.

But the Cougars limited the Northern Knights to two hits to come away with a 6-0 win before the game was called after the top of the seventh inning.

Ryan McKenna had two hits and a run batted in, and Jesse Gerdes doubled and drove in two to pace Montgomery (8-5).

Singles by Matt Phelan and Jack Lichtenste­in were the only hits for WW-P North (7-8). M: Marro 2, Gerdes; M: McKenna, Gerdes 2, MRyan, Marro, Pascale. Sudano; Lockwood (1-1).

POSTPONEME­NTS Growing rain as school ended Thursday kept some teams from playing.

New Egypt’s game at Maple Shade was moved to 3:45 p.m. Friday.

Trenton’s Mercer County Tournament play-in game at West Windsor-Plainsboro High South tried to get underway, but could not, so the contest was switched to 10 a.m. Saturday.

Princeton High and Princeton Day School got a little over three innings in before rain stopped play. They hope to make up the game sometime in May.

Ewing’s home game with Pemberton was postponed indefinite­ly as was Northern Burlington’s game at Burlington Township. WEDNESDAY HUN 9, HILL 1 POTTSTOWN, PA. >> Blake Brown had three hits and two RBIs, Alex Mumme had two doubles and two RBIs and Ryan Strype and Mike Pedota each added two hits with an RBI as the Raiders held off the Blues.
