Too much good to limit to just one month

Bishop Earl Jenkins says his church intends to take a stand against issues that have delivered divisive feelings and actions between police, community and diverse citizens.

“We have to sit down and talk. It’s time we had a discussion,” Jenkins said.

Jenkins’ True Servant Church on Sunday hosts a talk about issues that challenges communitie­s throughout the U.S.

The “We Need Us” unity service will be held Sunday, July 31, at 10 a.m. at: True Servant Church, 2630 South Broad St. in Hamilton.

Jenkins said “the service will include local dignitarie­s, police officers and multi-culture church leaders that will be part of a discussion panel.”

“The purpose is to bring awareness and solutions to a divided culture by understand­ing better methods of communicat­ion.” ---------------The Art Exhibition Committee of the Trenton Museum Society and Casa Cultura invite local and regional Latino visual artists over the age of 18 to submit no more than three digital images of original works for considerat­ion.

Deadline for submission­s is August 8, 2016.

Submission fee: $20 covers up to 3 submission­s.

Open to local and regional Latino artists 18 and older.

Work must not have been previously shown at Ellarslie and must be available for the duration of the exhibit.

All accepted work must be framed and wired. 2-D works are eligible in all visual media: painting, drawing, prints, mixed media, and photograph­y.

All accepted work must be framed or finished, and wired, ready to hang.

Work on paper must be under glass or Plexiglas.

Maximum height and width not to exceed 72 inches.

3-D works suitable for display on a pedestal are eligible and must be easily moved by two people.

Adults begin competitio­n on August 6 as the National Junior Tennis & Learning Trenton reestablis­hed the city tennis championsh­ip.

“We ended up with 42 juniors and 18 adults,” said NJTLT Executive Director Robert Howland. ---------------Well, that’s a wrap for July. Good News Friday had an initial one-month shelf life but people have responded wonderfull­y.
