Deacon Walter Holloway Sr., age 82, passed away August 21, 2016 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Hamilton Township, NJ.

He was born in Mecklenbur­g County Virginia and was a resident of Trenton for 56 years.

Deacon Holloway was educated in the Mecklenbur­g County Public School System. He was employed by the Internatio­nal Labor Union, Local 369 and The Anderson Funeral Service.

He was a former member of El-Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. John A. Gaines. His favorite hobby was wrestling.

He was predecease­d in death by his parents James Harris and Ala Holloway, father of the late Carolyn Andrew and one sister, Ruby Coles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Holloway of 60 years; four children Walter Jr. (Shirley), Beverly, Jacqueline, and James (Gina); eight grandchild­ren, Shawntia, Stephen (Akia), Walter III, Yashanta (Anthony), Roderick (Dionna), Annisha, Latonya, and Timothy; three sisters, Amy Richardson, Louise (Louis), and Alamita (William), 14n great–grandchild­ren; one godson Jamie Williams; one sister-in-law Ellen Starling; one brother-inlaw Johnnie Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 26, 2016, 11 a.m. at Union Baptist Church, 346 West Burlington St., Bordentown, NJ. Calling hours will be 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, NJ.

Arrangemen­ts are by the Hughes Funeral Home, Trenton, NJ.
