CVC realigns for upcoming season
The Colonial Valley Conference has been realigned this season for teams in sports other than football.
Hightstown rises to Central Jersey Group IV status again and returns to the Colonial Division, where it will be paired with Notre Dame, Princeton, West Windsor-Plainsboro South and Trenton.
That move sends WW-P North down to the Valley Division, where it will be joined by holdovers Hamilton and Nottingham and newcomer Allentown, which rose from the Patriot Division.
That leaves Ewing, Lawrence, Hopewell Valley, Robbinsville and Steinert in the Patriot Division.
Steinert, Princeton and WW-P North have now been in all three of the CVC’s divisions throughout the league’s 38-year history.
The change will also be felt in the postseason, especially in soccer.
Hopewell Valley began performing in the North Jersey Section 2 Group III postseason tournament last season and will be joined by WW-P North in that bracket this year.
Hightstown, Princeton, Trenton and WW-P South will all be eligible for postseason play in CJ IV, while Central Jersey Group III will have a lot of familiar CVC faces with Allentown, Ewing, Hamilton, Steinert, Nottingham and Lawrence.
While Notre Dame is still in the Non-Public A South bracket, another notable change involves Robbinsville, which will now compete in the South Jersey Group II Tournament.
A year ago, Trenton represented the CVC in the SJ
IV soccer.
While the postseason effects will not be felt until three months from now, the divisional changes
in the CVC will have a more immediate impact as teams jockey for position within their slightly altered league in hopes
of grabbing top bragging rights.
This Colonial Valley Conference’s realignment will also be in effect during
the 2016-17 winter and spring seasons and figures to remain that way for about the next three school years.
