The following information was provided by police, unless otherwise noted:
Trenton
Flipped Chevy: Police arrested Leon Ross, 29, of Trenton on Aug. 23, at 9:36p.m. after they were detailed to the area of East and Monmouth Street. When police arrived, they observed a black chevy Malibu that had overturned on Monmouth Street. Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn said that witnesses said that a man with dreadlocks, and a small child exited the car and Ross subsequently fled with the child. An alert was broadcast to with a description of the man and the child, who were located shortly thereafter on Sheridan Avenue. The child, a three-yearold girl, was complaining of abdominal pain, Varn said. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton for treatment. Varn said that the officers believed Ross was under the influence. Ross was taken to St. Francis Medical Center for treatment of a cut to his right elbow. Varn said that Ross told police that he was driving on Monmouth Street when an unknown vehicle sideswiped him. He was charged with assault by auto, endangering the welfare of a child, driving on the sidewalk, failure to report, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving while intoxicated. Ross also had warrants out of Lawrence, police records indicate. His bail information was not immediately available.
Gun arrest: Police arrested Christopher Proctor, 21, of Trenton on Aug. 23at 5:18p.m. on Kafer Street. Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn said that Street Crimes Unit Detectives Jeffrey Donaire and Joseph
D’Ambrosio received information that Proctor was in possession of a handgun. The detectives then went to Kafer Street where the say Proctor walking with a group of individuals. Varn said that once Proctor was aware of the police presence, he broke off from the group and headed for a grassy area. Once near the grassy area, police said that he pulled a handgun from his waistband and tossed the gun into the grass while walking away. Detectives then recovered
the handgun which was found to be loaded, Varn said. A search incident to Proctor’s arrest also turned up additional ammunition. He was charged with unlawful possession of a gun, certain persons not to possess a weapon, unlawful possession of dum-dum, and hindering apprehension. His bail was set at $50,000according to police records.
Drugs: Police arrested Jamir Black, 18, of Trenton in the 200
block of East Hanover Street around 5:06p.m. According to Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn, Street Crimes Unit Detectives Nathan Bolognini, Sarai Cheek, and Officer Briere Doggett were on patrol in the area when they noticed three people occupying an abandoned property. When the officers stopped to conduct an investigation, they noticed Black attempt to conceal a quantity of heroin in his coin pocket. He was then placed under arrest and police then recovered 21decks of heroin and a gram of crack-cocaine. Black was charged with possession with intent to sell, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and occupying an abandoned structure. Also arrested was Alvin Matthews, 19, of Trenton on a failure to appear warrant; he was also issued a summons for violating a city ordinance. A third person, identified only as an 18-year-old, was also issued a summons for violation of a city ordinance.
Busted with BB-gun: Police arrested Chad Stallworth, 19, of Trenton, on a warrant at 3:04 a.m. on Wednesday. Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn said that in addition to the warrant, Stallworth was found in possession of a BB gun in the area of Division Street and Morris Avenue. His bail information was not immediately available.
