Man robs Trenton gas station at gunpoint

- By Trentonian Staff

TRENTON >> A man robbed the Lukoil gas station at gunpoint Monday morning and police are searching for the suspect.

Police say the man walked into the gas station, which is located in the 700 block of Greenwood Avenue, and told the employee he wanted to purchase two boxes of cigarettes.

The suspect then lifted his shirt, showed the clerk he had a handgun in his waistband and demanded money, according to police.

Officials say the man then fled on a bike with approximately $100 in cash.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-10-inch tall black male with a thin build, who’s in his mid-20s.

Police are also searching for a man who robbed the Rite Aid Pharmacy located in the 700 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Officials say the man walked into the store around 8:15 a.m. last Thursday, told the cashier he had a handgun and demanded money.

The man then fled the store with approximately $134 in cash.

The suspect in the Rite Aid robbery is described as a 5-foot-8-inch tall black male with a thin build, who was wearing khaki pants and a white T-shirt.

The Lukoil station and Rite Aid are both located directly across the street from the Shell gas station where 21-year-old Kordrese Robinson and 16-year-old Jahday Twisdale were murdered last Sunday.

For quite some time, that intersection has been a hotspot for crime, especially late at night and during the early morning hours.

Police do not know whether the two robberies were committed by the same suspect, but officials are comparing the events to see if there’s a pattern connecting the crimes.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call police at 609989-4155.
