Allies fashion show model gets birthday surprise
The story begins when I had started to review my contact list of business and community friends with the thought of asking for volunteers to be our escorts for the Allies Fashion Show. The Fashion Show, which was a bi-annual event and now an annual event, showcases our clothing line at our Greensleeves Boutique that is proudly worn by our models who are actually the wonderful people we serve.
This is a signature event that exuberates passion and which is a compelling story of why Allies exists. It is all about the people we serve.
Our escorts shared many compassionate stories after the ceremony and the one common thread that was heard was the fact that at the end of the day, they all clearly understood why Allies exists, what our mission is and why we do what we do for people with special needs.
One dear friend and an escort for our Fashion Show was Tracey Destribats, Director of Advancement for Trenton Catholic Academy, who went above and beyond. She was paired with Cristina who was all smiles as she walked down the red carpet. Tracey and Cristina spent some time together before and after the proud walk down the runway. Tracey learned that Cristina’s birthday bucket list item was to see Justin Bieber in concert.
In a matter of a few short days, Tracey Destribats acquired four tickets for the Justin Bieber concert on July 15 in Atlantic City and to add to the excitement she also bought her two T-shirts, an autographed Justin Bieber photograph and bracelet. Thus, the title of this article!
This created so much excitement throughout Allies that it warranted special recognition in our newsletter. I had requested from Tracey to come into our headquarters for a photo-op and her reply? Quote, “I don’t need to be in the photo, but love the idea of the focus being on Cristina and Allies. That’s why it’s important to get the message out so that others can make a difference in small ways. It’s about those that do the real work for Cristina and others.”
So here’s to you Tracey! You are truly an incredible humanitarian who made a difference Cristina received a birthday surprise when Tracey Destribats gave her tickets to a Justin Bieber concert in Atlantic City.
