Trio arrested for gun, drug possession
LAWRENCE >> Three Trenton residents were arrested Friday after police saw them in a car traveling the wrong way and then found pot and a gun inside the vehicle.
Ronnie McAllister, 28, Jahnice Hibbert, 21, and Davon Marks, 22, were each charged with weapons offenses and marijuana possession after police found a 9mm handgun underneath the front passenger seat, a small amount of pot and a marijuana grinder. Hibbert was also charged with several motor vehicle offenses.
Officials say police saw a silver Mitsubishi Galant traveling the wrong way from Brunswick Pike onto a ramp leading to Franklin Corner Road around 10:45 p.m. Friday. During the subsequent motor vehicle stop, officials say, police smelled pot, then saw a marijuana grinder and a plastic bag containing cigars lying in plain view inside the car.
As officers removed the trio from the vehicle to further investigate, police say, McAllister removed a bag of marijuana from his pocket and tried to place it inside his underwear.
Police then searched the vehicle and allegedly found a .22 caliber hollow-point bullet in the glove compartment and a 9mm handgun underneath the front passenger seat.
Neither of the occupants admitted to owning the gun, so they were all charged with weapons offenses.
Hibbert’s bail was set at $30,000; McAllister’s bail was set at $27,000; and Marks’ bail was set at $33,000.
