Split Decision: Who is going to win Eagles vs. Vikings game?
I almost feel bad for Eagles fans. Almost. After all, two short weeks ago, it looked like the Birds had the league by the beak. Started off 3-0, looking sharp, culminating with a destruction of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Carson Wentz made everyone quickly forget about Sam “Bust” Bradford.
And then … back to back losses in winnable games to the Lions and the Redskins.
So here we are, week 7, and the Vikings (and Bradford) come to town. And guess what? They look like Super Bowl contenders. Bradford is finally looking like a number one draft pick and the defense could eat the Purple People Eaters as a snack.
All signs point to the Vikings coming into town and laying a beating on the Eagles. Not so fast. A couple of breaks, and the Eagles are also undefeated. A couple of breaks, this game is being talked about as a precursor to the NFC championship. A couple of breaks, this is the game of the week.
And sure, while we can expect the Vikings to show up in Philly, and we can expect their defense to force Wentz into a few rookie mistakes, I’m not entirely sure the Vikings are going to roll the Birds like most think they will.
As I write this, the Vikings are 2.5 point favorites with a league-low 40 over/under.
I don’t buy it. If you were a gambler, don’t you take the 8.5 points and bang the 34 over in a tease? Seems like easy money if you were a gambler.
Bottom line? The NFL is a week-to-week adventure, and I’m not ready to anoint the Vikes or bury the Birds.
Eagles 27-13.
