Parker backing his Vikings over the local guys

Connor Barwin, the Philadelphia Eagles on field star defensive lineman and offfield society changer with positive neighborhood playground initiatives, offered advice for his teammates before they faced Detroit.

“We need to focus on one day at a time,” Barwin said, during a television interview.

Well, that’s just about impossible for Eagles fans and this Minnesota Vikings lifer who has circled on his desk blotter, home calendar, and stopped just short of tattooing Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016 on his arm just above the “Mom” insignia.

The Minnesota Vikings visit Lincoln Financial Field at 1 p.m. on that D-date with an undefeated5-0recordbuiltby discarded former Eagles quarter back, Sam Bradford.

Bradford posted the last four wins with a 70 pct. passing average, 990 yards, 6 touchdowns and no interceptions as the Vikings ask him to do just enough.

Philadelphia counters with rookie sensation Carson Wentz, talented, overhyped but a potential linchpin to future team gridiron success. The problem with Wentz and the Eagles is that, unlike Dallas where two rookies, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott start and learn together, Wentz grows alone.

My grandmother could have played pitch and catch for victories against the Cleveland Skid Marks and Chicago Big Kitty Furballs.

Big props for that 34-3 win against Pittsburgh which came ahead of the two-game downfalls.

NFL television numbers may be decreased in national markets but that will change as the return of Bradford to face off against Wentz, his rookie successor, promises to reverse whatever numbers exist for TV audiences in Philadelphia.

The Eagles forced reconstruction of this column.

After a 3-0 start, imaginations ran wilder than Elliott that two 5-0 teams might meet this weekend.

Nope. Philadelphia (3-2) crapped the bed against Detroit and Washington but their fans’ loyalty aligns with Barwin’s insight, except in this case it’s one game at a time. First, beat Minnesota then worry about a treacherous schedule.

Bradford has more to prove and would like nothing better than to win against a city that showed him no love when they drafted Wentz with a No. 2 selection.

It’s going to be close but Sammy “Sleeves” Bradford keeps the Eagles’ defense on the field for long drives that nets field goals.

Don’t feel comfortable about this but make it: Minnesota Vikings 23, Eagles 20.

(By the way. Early line has Vikings favored by two-anda-half points.
