Four Mercer County, nine Burlington County and 15 softball teams overall have been forced to wait another day to see if they can advance to the next round of their various state tournaments.

Because of rain, all of Thursday’s games were postponed out and moved to Friday with most of the teams competing in sectional semifinals.

On the Mercer County front, Robbinsville will host Manasquan in a Central Jersey Group II bracket that also includes a Johnson at Bordentown semifinal.

The RobbinsvllleManasquan game has been moved to 2 p.m. There is also the possibility the game will be played at Tantum Park rather that at the high school softball field that does not drain well.

There has also been a time change in the Ewing at Northern Burlington game in Central Jersey Group III. This collision is now set for Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Other games Friday involving Mercer teams include Wall at Steinert in C.J. Group III and Bishop Ahr at Notre Dame in S.J. Parochial A. This is the first state tournament game for the Irish, which drew a bye and is in a bracket that starts later than the public schools because it has one less round.

Additional Burlington teams looking to advance to sectional finals are Riverside, Rancocas Valley, Seneca, Cinnaminson, Delran and Maple Shade. Holy Cross is also alive in S.J. Parochial B and New Egypt will host Pt. Pleasant Beach in C.J Group I.

Following Neshaminy’s shocking exit in the PIAA District One Class AAAAAA tournament, the only area team remaining in that field is Council Rock North. The Indians will be at Coatesville Friday.

Bristol received a semifinal bye in the District One Class AA Tournament after Sacred Heart pulled out and will play in the district final on Wednesday.
