TRENTON » A woman who struck two people with her car Monday night, later misled police by telling them she struck a deer.

But cops were quick to determine that information was false.

Imijah Blackwell, 20, was arrested Monday night after she allegedly struck two people with her car in Trenton, then fled the scene and later called Ewing PD to report hitting a deer.

Officials say Blackwell struck a male and a female pedestrian with her car around 10 p.m. near the intersection of Perrine and North Clinton avenues in the city. The victims suffered extensive injuries, and were admitted into the hospital overnight. Officials say they remain in critical, but stable condition.

While Trenton Police were investigating the hitand-run, Ewing Police received a call from Blackwell stating that she had hit a deer.

While EPD were investigating, they realized they were misled, and that Blackwell had actually hit two people in Trenton.

Blackwell is charged with assault by auto and leaving the scene of an accident. In her mugshot photo,

Blackwell appears to be wearing a security uniform. Sources with knowledge of the investigation say Blackwell is employed as a security officer at the Ann Klein Forensic Center in Trenton, which is a psychiatric hospital.

A spokesperson with the Department of Human Services said via email that Blackwell “has been suspended with pay, pending an administrative hearing on Friday.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and the county prosecutor’s office is involved.
