FLEMINGTON » A notorious criminal has fessed up to 13 Hunterdon burglaries and several in Burlington County.

Cuthbert A. Andersen Jr, 22, of Lawrence, pleaded guilty to the multiple accounts of burglary and theft, in addition to an eluding charge from a police chase while he was driving a vehicle reported stolen out of Raritan Township in Hopewell, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.

“In early February, the New Jersey State Police Kingwood Station detective bureau conducted an investigation in cooperation with detectives from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Edgewater Park Police Department (Burlington County), Burlington Township Police Department, Raritan Township Police Department and the Hopewell Township Police Department (Mercer County) into numerous burglaries and thefts,” Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns III said in a statement.

Andersen — the serial robber — was then charged with the crimes as a result of the investigation and was hit with a 34-count indictment in April.

Andersen’s crime spree dates all the way back to last summer.

State police tied Andersen to a string of burglaries that occurred in the John Ringo section of East Amwell Township in Hunterdon County beginning in July 2016. Police said as a result of their investigation they were able to compile evidence that led to Andersen’s February 7 arrest in Lawrence.

Andersen was also charged with burglarizing the same Burlington Township home on Beverly Road twice — one time on Jan. 20 and again on Feb. 4.

During the burglaries, he stole personal items and two vehicles.

While police were investigating those incidents, they learned of another similar burglary in the Edgewater Park in Burlington County on Jan. 27. Like the Burlington Township burglaries, personal items and a vehicle were stolen.

Burlington Township and Edgewater Park detectives coordinated efforts and one of the stolen vehicles was recovered in Middletown, Pa. while another was located in Philadelphia. Police recovered evidence that identified

Andersen as the suspect during their investigation and processing of the cars and the crime scenes.

Police said Andersen would burglarize homes by entering through unlocked doors as residents were asleep.

Andersen was indicted for 17 counts of third-degree burglary, 11 counts of third-degree theft, seconddegree burglary, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree eluding, third-degree unlawful possession of a shotgun, third-degree receiving stolen property, and fourth-degree illegal sale of weapons.

Andersen has a habit for these types of crimes.

In 2015, Andersen was arrested on May 27 after he allegedly stole a 2007 Acura from a home on Woosamonsa Road in Hopewell on May 25. Similar to his method of operation, he entered the home through an unlocked door and made off with a wallet and keys to the car. He was later arrested in Cherry Hill in the stolen Acura.

Andersen will be sentenced on Aug. 11.
