Henry Earl Purnell Sr. of Trenton, NJ age 73 passed away July 1, 2017.

He was born in Trenton, NJ.

He was a graduate of Trenton Central School in

1961, and graduate of Adelph University-School of Social Work, with a BS and MSW in Social Work.

Henry was employed by the NYC Link Program as a Transitional Support Counselor, NYC Department of Health as a Social Worker, St. Lukes Roosevelt Hospital, 2007-2013, U.S. Help, 2016-present.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in New York City.

Henry was predeceased in death by his parents Earl Purnell and Gloria Violet Reed Purnell, his common law wife, Catherine Lewis, and his wife, Angie Purnell.

Henry is survived by his wife, Angela Osbourne, two daughters, Shellie PurnellBrown (Shawn), and Marni Purnell, five step-daughters, Andrea Ingram (James), Tanya Brown (Olugbala), Robin Lewis, Shawn Lewis, and Tracy Ann Osbourne, one brother, Stefan L. Purnell, one sister, Gloria P. Alston, an aunt, Lutee Livingston, eight grandchildren, Nicholus James, Jamar Lewis, Korraun Lewis, Stanly Derry, Latifa Miller (Marcus), Asha Lewis, Olugbala Lewis (Tina), and Shania Lewis, two nieces, Shana Alston, and Megan Alston Balkcom, two nephews, Robert E. Alston 2nd, and Stefan Purnell Jr., and a host of cousins, and special friends.

Funeral service will be 10am Fri., July 14, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton, NJ. Calling hours will be 8am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be held in Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Henry’s name to UIH Family Partners, 4 N. Broad St., 2nd Floor, Trenton, NJ 08608, Phone # 609-6953663.
