Eugene K. Pennock of Florence
Eugene K.
(Gene) Pennock of Florence, 80, died June 29, 2017.
Gene graduated from Columbus Grammar School and William McFarland High School. He served four years in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Gene was a well-loved and respected member of The Trentonian family for nearly 60 years. As Building Maintenance Supervisor, he worked endless hours and was always on call. There was nothing that Gene couldn’t fix. Countless times he even helped anyone who had problems with their car or just needed air in their tires. Above and beyond doesn’t truly describe Gene. He always went beyond and beyond.
He was like the Energizer Bunny - he kept going and going.
He truly was a jack-ofall-trades. He earned the unofficial title of Nighttime Publisher because when most of the staff was home in bed, he kept The Trentonian building in shape so that the daily miracle of publishing could continue to happen.
Gene liked to bet the ponies and enjoyed his trips to Parx Casino and playing his slot machines. He especially enjoyed smoking his stogies while working and riding on the forklift. He was an avid lottery player.
The family would like to thank Lovelyn from Embracing HospiceCare for her kind and compassionate care during Gene’s last weeks.
He was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Linda Pennock, three sons; Kenneth, Stephen and Wayne, and one daughter Wendy,
He is also survived by three grandchildren; Stephen, Shannan, and Dana.
A private service was held last week at the convenience of the family.
