Robbinsvil­le’s Roeloffs among NJAC All-Academic honorees

When she was at Robbinsvil­le High, Megan Roeloffs displayed not only skill and a great desire on the hockey field, but a fierce determinat­ion and dedication.

She applied that same determinat­ion and dedication on the field and in the classroom during her four years at Montclair State, earning her a second team selection on the New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

Roeloffs was an Education and Human Service major at MSU.

The lone local athlete on the first team was Rowan’s Claire Corbett (Rancocas Valley). Corbett had her best time this season in the 800 meters at the Lions Invitation­al with a time of 2:21.26.

Joining Roeloffs on the second team are New Jersey City’s Luis Crus (WW-P South), Rutgers-Camden’s Richard Campolungo (Holy Cross) and Rutgers-Newark’s Isaiah Kuris (Rancocas Valley).

Eric Speidel (Lawrencevi­lle). and Goff will be the third coach in the last five years since the retirement of 37-year coach Eric Hamilton, who achieved a 222-144-6 mark and seven post season appearance­s.

The program has gone 13-26 since Hamilton’s retirement.

TCNJ, which will be looking for their first winning season since a 7-3 mark in 2011, takes to the road in the second game heading to Maryland to meet NJAC foe Frostburg State.

Then it’s home for three games against some tough conference competitio­n as Wesley, Salisbury and archrival Montclair State invade Lions Stadium.

Fortunatel­y, there is a bye week between Salisbury and MSU.

A trip to Rowan opens the second half of the schedule and then it’s homecoming and Kean. William Paterson will host the Lions on Oct. 28, and Christophe­r Newport welcomes them a week later. TCNJ finishes the regular season with Southern Virginia coming in on Friday night Nov. 10.
