Ewing’s only Wawa to open on Aug. 25
EWING » A destination spot for hoagies will soon be open in Ewing.
Wawa will open its only Ewing store at 1300 Silvia St. on Friday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m., the company announced Tuesday via email.
The super Wawa, store #8360, will offer fuel for sale as well as its staple hoagies and coffee.
The new store has been under construction at the intersection of Parkway Avenue and Sylvia Street, just across the street from Scotch Road, since spring.
Grand opening festivities will include remarks by Wawa officials, a parade of Wawa history, a Hoagie Building Competition to benefit a local charity, and a ribbon cutting ceremony, the company said.
“New Jersey is our home market and the Ewing store is one of four new stores currently under construction,” company spokeswoman Lori Bruce previously said, noting the other new establishments will be located in Galloway Township, Bridgewater and Lindenwold.
Wawa currently operates 244 stores in the Garden State and has a total of 750 stores nationwide. The store that serves its subs on Amoroso’s rolls can also be found in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Florida.
Wawa had run a Ewing store in the early 1970s on North Olden Avenue in the shopping center next to McDonald’s, but it closed after several years.
The Ewing store will add to Wawa’s portfolio in Mercer County. There are four Wawa stores in Hamilton Township and one is situated off Route 1 in Lawrence.
Wawa employs 40-60 employees at each of its New Jersey stores, the company reported.
Interested applicants seeking a job at the new Ewing location, 1300 Sylvia St., will can find openings at wawa.com under the “Careers” section. The company is seeking applications for customer service associates, fuel service associates and night supervisor.
