Drug crew member gets 7 years in federal prison
TRENTON » A member of the Passaic Street drug-trafficking organization recently brought down under federal prosecution has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment.
Thomas Rogers, 23, also known as “Herb” and “T-Rod,” will serve 84 months in a federal prison for conspiring to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey.
A U.S. District Court judge sentenced Rogers on Thursday to 84 months, which translates into seven hard years behind bars. He previously pleaded guilty to the drug distribution conspiracy and admitted to possessing at least one firearm during the conspiracy.
Ishmael Abdullah, 27, the ring leader of the Passaic Street-based drug trafficking organization, earlier this month confessed in Trenton federal court to his conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and his unlawful possession of a firearm. Prosecutors referred to the street crew as the Abdullah DTO.
Underlings of the organization, such as Rogers, participated in the conspiracy to sell large quantities of heroin from May 2015 through December 2016 in the area of Spring and Passaic streets in Trenton. The feds busted the operation last December, with Rogers being among the 10 crew members charged by criminal complaint.
Of the 10 defendants, six have pleaded guilty in the case to date.
