Four injured in three Trenton shootings
TRENTON » Four people were injured by gunfire during three separate shootings Sunday.
The first shooting happened around 12:20 a.m. in the first block of East Ingham Avenue. Officials say two females were struck by bullets: a 33-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to her left wrist, and a 25-yearold suffered multiple wounds to her stomach and shoulder.
When police arrived at the scene, the victims were not there, according to officials who say they arrived at the hospital by private vehicle a short time later. The 25-year-old was rushed into emergency surgery and remains hospitalized in stable condition. The other victim was admitted into the hospital overnight for observation.
About three hours later, police were notified of a second shooting when personnel from St. Francis Medical Center reported a 23-year-old male suffering from a graze wound to his head had walked into the hospital.
The victim told police he was walking on Division Street when he heard gunshots, then started running and realized his head was bleeding.
The victim then ran all the way to St. Francis, where he was treated for a non-lifethreatening gunshot wound.
A fourth victim was injured by gunfire in the 300 block of Union Street around 6:50 p.m. A male was shot in the back and rushed into emergency surgery following the incident. As of press time, he remains hospitalized in stable condition, according to a police spokesperson who could not immediately provide additional details.
