Questions about an old photo get answered
A photo has haunted me since appearing in a June 2016 Trentonian publication. In it, Hamilton Twp. Mayor Kelly Yaede held a ginormous pair of scissors as she prepared to cut the ribbon for a grand opening of Academy Dental.
Dr. Navleen Thind stood to Yaede’s right and Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson looked on from the left.
The photo caused trauma and thoughts that death had arrived which jettisoned my body toward purgatory but in limbo just outside Trenton City Council chambers.
Jackson reduced to cheerleader for suburban success angered my soul.
Fast forward to last week when Thind and husband, Gagandeep Sandha, opened a practice on South Warren St. in Trenton.
Mayor Jackson had an interesting back story about the Hamilton photo.
“They called and asked that I attend because a lot of their clients were from Trenton. I told them I had to respect Mayor Yaede’s leadership,” Jackson explained.
When Academy Dental pressed the issue, Jackson called Hamilton Twp. and gained approval to attend.
“Just as a supporter although I did say that I loved their offices. I asked them to keep Trenton in their minds if they ever considered opening another office,” Jackson said.
Fifteen months later, Thind opened Capitol Smiles Dental.
“The Hamilton photo? I expected criticism about that,” Jackson said.
“But it’s amazing how life turns out sometimes. I didn’t know this story would end this way. We’re proud that Capitol Smiles Dental believes in the city and its clients.”
