The Delaware Valley football is making good use of plenty of local talent as it heads into a bye week with an unbeaten mark of 7-0 and 6-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Devauntay Ellis (Ewing) rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns in the No. 6 Aggies’ 49-14 win over Kings last Saturday.

Ellis became just the eighth player in school history to surpass 2,000 yards rushing and he did it in just three seasons. Ellis now has 2,054 for his amazing career.

“It was nice to hit the number,” Ellis said. “But it was more about the win and keeping our year going.”

Meanwhile, Stephen Adams (Nottingham) handles the punting duties and kicked four times for an average of 48.2 yards in the win over Kings.

“He’s really improved his game,” said coach Duke Greco. “He’s been doing a great job for us all year and he’s pinning opponents deep and changed field position for us in a big way.”

The numbers have been terrific for Adams this season. He is averaging 41.7 yards per punt and 12 times he has left the ball inside the 20.

NJAC Honors Wachira

Meghan Wachira (WW-P North) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after scoring the game winner for Rutgers-Camden in a win over Kean.

Wachira has 11 goals this season, the most by any Scarlet Raptor since 2009. She broke a 14-year school record with her sixth game-winning goal.

The former Knight ranks third in the conference with 11 goals and 24 points.

Horsley Gets Centennial Honor

Annie Horsley (Pennington) was named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading Franklin & Marshall field hockey to a pair of wins over Washington College and Gettysburg.

Horsley caged two goals on three shots in the two games.

Skove Nets a Pair

Haley Skove (Notre Dame) scored both goals in East Stroudsburg’s 2-0 win over Lock Haven for its seventh straight victory. Skove has five goals on the season and one assist for the 9-3-2 Warriors.
