TCNJ GAMEDAY

-

WHO: The College of New Jersey (1-5, 1-4 NJAC) vs. Kean (2-4, 2-3 NJAC)

WHEN: Lions Stadium, Ewing, NJ at 2 p.m. COACHES: TCNJ’s Casey Goff (1st season, 1-5) and Dan Garrett (12th season, 69-53) SERIES: TCNJ leads 30-12-2, and Kean has won seven of the last 10.

LAST WEEK: TCNJ defeated Rowan, 2014, and Kean lost to Wesley, 29-9. SIGNIFICANCE: Homecoming for TCNJ. TCNJ SCOUTING REPORT: Practice had to seem a lot better this week as the Lions got their first win of the season at Rowan last week. TCNJ would like to make it two straight with and they will continue to impress with a solid passing game led by NJAC Offensive Player of the Week, Trevor Osler. Osler has thrown for 1,330 yards and his favorite target in Tommy Koenig, who is averaging 106.4 yards a game in receptions. The running game needs to continue to improve. The defense is led by Max Busca with 52 tackles and Zack Warcola leads the conference in punting. This one could come down to the Kean secondary stopping the passing game. Statistically, these two are very similar and it could come down to who wants it more.

KEAN SCOUTING REPORT: The Cougars lost to first place Wesley last week and will be looking to rebound if they want to have any chance for a shot at a conference title. Kean runs the ball better than the Lions with Brian Matthews. Matthews is third in the conference with 81.0 yards a game and they will use the run to set up the pass. Charles App is the quarterback and he has completed 63.3 percent of his passes with Ben Guarino being his favorite target. Linebacker Darin Hungerford leads the NJAC in tackles with 70, including four sacks. The Cougars will look to pressure Osler and force the ball downfield. Field position will be a key.
