Hamilton election

-

Hamilton Township can’t afford another year of “rubber stamp” Council members. We should not allow this 100% republican controlled Council and administration to go unchecked.

We need serious checks and balances, not just more members that want to play on the so called “Yeade Team”. We need people on Council that will speak out, and scrutinize every expenditure, every new position and every dime in the Townships budget.

Hamilton also needs a stronger code of ethics, and a local Board of Ethics to enforce it. The current ethics code is weak and does not even address “Nepotism”, or Political solicitations. It needs to be beefed up to insure the public’s interest always come first.

Our zoning codes need to be rewritten to attract new redevelopment on sites like the vacant Cost Cutters shopping center on Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, the former Congoleum property on Sloane Road, as well as numerous vacant and obsolete commercial and industrial properties rotting away throughout Hamilton. Mixed-use type development would offer an opportunity for people to work, shop and live in “walkable” neighborhoods and help reduce the amount of traffic on our crowded roads.

The administration needs to do more to attract shoppers to our half empty shopping centers, and tenants to our vacant office buildings. Hamilton needs to capitalize on the benefits of having facilities like “Grounds for Sculpture” in our community, and should reach out for additional cultural and art attractions to support our restaurants and other businesses.

On November 7th, Hamiltonians can bring a much-needed breath of fresh air to Town Council by voting for Carabelli, Martin & Tighe.
